Privacy policy

DnrPlns is a small, invite-only app for planning dinners with your household and a few friends. This page says, in plain words, what we keep and who can see it.
What we store
- Your account: your email address, and your name and photo if you sign in with Google.
- Your profile: username, display name, bio and profile photo, if you add them.
- Recipes you save: the link (or, for a cookbook recipe, the book and page), title, a link to the site's photo, times, servings and the ingredient list. We never copy a recipe's method, text or photos.
- Recipe photos: if you add a photo of your own to a recipe, we keep that one picture, privately.
- What you do in the app: ratings, the cook log (notes and photos), your pantry, meal plans, shopping lists, follows, blocks, likes and reports.
Photos you upload are cleaned before they're stored: we remove location (GPS), camera details and all other hidden information.
Who can see it
- Your household shares the recipe library, pantry, plans and shopping lists, and sees each other's ratings and cook log.
- Everyone else sees only what you choose. Each recipe is Private (the default), Followers or Public. With a private profile, only people you approve can follow you.
- Household notes and your own recipe photos are never shown to anyone outside your household, even on recipes you share. Friends see the website's photo instead.
- Blocking someone hides you from each other completely.
- Reports you send are seen only by the app's admins.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- We don't sell or share your data.
- When you import a recipe from a link, only its title and ingredient lines are sent to our AI helper (Anthropic's Claude) to tidy them up. Your name and account are never sent.
- When you add a recipe from photos, the photos are sent to Claude to read the title and ingredients, after we remove their location and camera details. We don't keep those photos: they're gone once the recipe is read. Only a crop you choose as the recipe photo is saved.
- When you type a request into the planner (“5 dinners, 4 easy”), the text is sent to Claude with today's date and your tag names, never your recipes, ratings or account. What you typed is kept only with the plan it made, so you can see what you asked.
- “New to you” recipes (only if you turn it on) come from recipes and ratings you can already see: what people you follow share with followers, and public recipes. Nothing private is ever used, and nothing is sent to Claude.
- We don't copy recipe photos: they load straight from the recipe's own website, like following a link. That site can see that a device loaded its picture, but not who you are or where you saw it.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase in Canada (Canada Central region), and the app runs on Vercel. Both keep it encrypted and backed up.
Your choices
- Download your data any time: Settings → Export my data.
- Delete your account in Settings. Everything that belongs to you (profile, ratings, cook log, photos, follows) is deleted. Recipes stay with your household if someone else is still in it.
